Safe Exam Browser (SEB) is a secure web browser used at Keyano College to make sure online exams are taken fairly. It locks down your computer so you can only access your exam and nothing else.

Why SEB is Important

  • Prevents access to other websites, files, or applications during an exam.

  • Ensures a safe and fair testing environment for all students.

  • Helps instructors maintain exam integrity.

Best Practices – Before Your Exam

  1. Install SEB Early

    • Download SEB on your computer well before exam day.

    • Make sure you’re using the version required by your instructor or Moodle.

  2. Run a Test Exam - Before your first online test, confirm that your secure browser is set up correctly by using the test tools.  Below are some of the test pages and guides below:

    • Make sure your computer is up to date before your exam — SEB requires the latest updates.

    • Fully charge your laptop, or keep it plugged in during the exam.

    • Close all other applications before starting SEB.

  4. Know the Rules

    • Once you start SEB, you won’t be able to switch to other programs.

    • Save and submit answers as directed by your instructor.

On Exam Day

  • Restart your computer before launching SEB to avoid hidden issues.

  • Arrive/log in early so you have time to troubleshoot.

  • Have your Keyano login credentials ready.

  • If something goes wrong, notify your instructor right away.
