Options for Launching missing applications from the Start Menu or Task Bar

There are three main ways to gain access to commonly used apps.

Option 1 - VDI Desktop

From an Internet Browser (Edge, Chrome, Firefox)

  1. Click HERE to access the Internet Shortcut 

OR

  1. From your computer Desktop
  2. Click in the Search box beside the Start Menu
  3. Type in VMware Horizon Client  Uploaded Image (Thumbnail)
  4. Click on the shortcut to Launch the application  
  5. Click on Desktop.keyano.ca
  6. Sign in with your Keyano Credentials
  7. You will have to log into Microsoft then again within the Application
  8. Double Click on the desktop icon Uploaded Image (Thumbnail)
  9. Read and accept the Keyano College Computer Services Policy
  10. The desktop will open with all the standard applications

Option 2 - Office 365

Office 365 - If you are requiring Office Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) these are all available through Office 365.  You will also still have access to all your drives and information located on the Keyano Network.

  1. Click HERE
  2. Sign in with your Keyano Credentials in the top right corner of the screen Uploaded Image (Thumbnail)
  3. Click on Apps to see the list of applications that are available.  Common applications will also be listed down the left side of the screen

Option 3 - Run Command 

Desktop Shortcuts - Most applications on your computer will still be accessible locally on your computer

  1. Hold down the Windows Key then pressing the R key on your keyboard Uploaded Image (Thumbnail)
  2.  
  3. The following screen will appear.  Uploaded Image (Thumbnail)
  4. You can type in the name of the application you would like to launch in the box beside Open (or copy and paste from the list below)
  5. Here is a list of some of the common applications within Keyano
  6. Outlook – Outlook.exe
  7. Word – Winword.exe
  8. Excel – Excel.exe
  9. Edge – Microsoft Edge.exe
  10. Chrome - Chrome.exe
  11. Firefox - Firefox.exe
  12. Foxit - FoxitPDFEditor.exe
